Landon Smith's Interests

General

I love to program games, web software, and play/write music!

I also love anything retro and spend most nights playing on my Atari 2600 until really late...

Oh, and if you couldn't tell, I'm a pretty big proponent of Apple Computer Inc. I love their products and strive for minimalism and perfection.

That said, I do also love me a Linux distribution! :P

I have never been a big proponent of my generation. I know, this sounds rather idiotic, but truly, what the everloving dingus is a "sigma"? Oh, I know! A LETTER IN THE GREEK ALPHABET!

Music

Huey Lewis and The News, (Hip to be Square is an undisputed MASTERPIECE!)
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble,
U2,
Vince Guaraldi,
Doyle Bramhall,
Oscar Peterson Trio,
Rick Astley, (Yes, really.)
The Beatles,
Eagles,
Journey,
Bryan Adams,
SMASH MOUTH,

Spin Doctors,
FEX

Movies

Ghostbusters in it's entirety. I love all the movies!

Back to the Future trilogy.

StarWars Episodes I-VI. I really hate newer "Disneyfied" StarWars.

The Middle
The Andy Griffith Show
Everybody Loves Raymond

Books

Steve Jobs by Walter Issacson
The Game Console (1.0 and 2.0) by Evan Amos

Most biographies and informational books! :)

Heroes

I've always looked up to my dad as my primary inspiration for everything I do.

I also admire the work of Steve Wozniak, one of Apple Computer's co-founders.

About me:

Be Different. Think Different.
I'm one of the crazy ones.
A round peg in a square hole.
I have no respect for the status quo, and am not fond of the trends and rules of society. I am different from the rest, and proud of it.

The people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Hi! I'm Landon Smith. I'm an old soul who's into vintage computers and retro consoles, and I've been a musician for ten years now. (started on piano, nowadays mostly drums). I code (HTML, CSS, PHP, BASIC, Swift, JS, etc...), and work in photography, video editing, graphic design, and church production. On weekends you'll find me at church on the drums or in the sound booth keeping service running smoothly.

"Why is your profile page not really customized?"

This is a question I get asked frequently on SpaceHey---and this section will answer the aforementioned question. Honestly, I don't see a need to do so. Unlike most (I'm sure not ALL) on this site, I'm paying for a separate website, in which I'm working to customize to my liking.

Obviously, I'll be spending more time over there working on that, so therefore, I don't see the need to customize something so trivial like my SpaceHey account, when I could be doing other things.

It's also contradicting with my personal views. As a minimalist, I would rather just keep everything nice and tidy as it is, then try so hard to make it "my own thing".

Who I'd like to meet:

I'd love to meet anyone, really. I'm not too social of a person, however, I enjoy conversations with others about a wide variety of things. :P

I should let it be known: I'm a *very* blunt, and straight to the point guy. I say what's on my mind no matter if it may sound pretentious, annoying, obnoxious, so on. (It's in my nature, I apologize in advance!)

That said, I strive to treat others the way I want to be treated, but don't be alarmed if I write something that catches you off guard!

I also hate the Disney era of star wars what an absolute writing disaster!

I fully agree, dude.

All I know is that if George Lucas hadn't sold out the rights, and still had an active role in the writing of the films, (and really StarWars media in general), the entire franchise would've been quite different.

And don't even get me STARTED on how 7,8, and 9 are all just rehashes of 4,5 and 6!

OH MY GOD RIGHT!?!?!

I saw a video essay a very long time ago that basically talked about Lucas's plans for the rest of the series and WE WERE ROBBED!!

I hate a lot of modern Disney so much all their movies are turning into rehashed slop content (im looking at you marvel)

As a film student I am so sick of what the industry is putting out these days.

My dad's been in the TV/film industry for over 20 years, and having grown up around him and around film (he's met Lucas five freakin' times), I've come to know what to look for when it comes to film...what's good, bad, and utterly disgusting.

Disney, in its entirety, is truly a shell of its former self. Most movies of Disney/Pixar in modern day suffer from the same type of story-telling, animation (THE BEAN MOUTH SYNDROME!!), and overall feel. Not to mention their excessive push to include recent political issues and worldly matters into their stories (that are primarily targeted at a very young audience)...it's all very unnecessary for a story about, oh I dunno, a princess, or something.

As per the marvel stuff, I agree--even though I really haven't seen many Marvel movies, (literally Iron Man and Iron Man 2..) I've been exposed to movies long enough to see that it's just been the same thing, as you stated, over and over again.

And then there's the issue with true originality in modern day. Most people want original films, but at the same time, Disney, in particular, when given that opportunity, can't seem to execute it correctly. (see: Elio or whatever it was called, that FLOPPED at the box office)...So what do they do? They go back to the same cash cow of something like "Toy Story", which is getting a FIFTH MOVIE?!? Completely unnecessary. The movie industry as a whole desperately needs to stop milking the same crap and go back to imaginative, playful storytelling.

I completely agree! I really hope this give independent media a chance at shaking things up.
