About me:

My Schnauzer Mastiff mix is one of the most dangerous dogs I have ever had the misfortune of adopting. I picked him up from an Amish couple while backpacking through Pennsylvania three years ago. They said his name was Ezekiel but I shortened it to Zeke at the vet. Everyone who meets Zeke asks the same thing: “What makes his eyes so red?” As I've been told, it’s something to do with a rare vitamin deficiency. An unlucky result of crossbreeding. That doesn’t explain why I can still see his eyes when the lights are off. Two red orbs that stay trained on me as I sleep, pin pricked by pupils dark as pitch.

I have found comfort in it, deciding to think of his gaze as protection, over intimidation. In much the same way, Zeke guards the bathroom while I am using it. And I like to return that favor, keeping watch while he does his business. We have an agreement I suppose, because despite everything I’ve seen him do to other animals and even people, he has never turned on me.

At first I posted photos of myself and Zeke online, as any dog owner is wont to do. Soon after, strangers began arriving at my house asking to meet him, bringing gifts and “sacraments” as they put it. Sometimes wet red vines lashed together into the crude shape of a dog. Sometimes a cake. Zeke didn't seem to care as I threw them all away. We were forced to move after a man set fire to our backyard with himself in the middle. Since then I only record Zeke to gather evidence of what I already know is happening.

I'm sure I will be blamed for my dog, but I never did anything wrong. When the time comes and you see what I've seen, you will know how powerless I was. That Zeke was just stronger than me. Anyway, he loves this website. It calms him down. I swear that while watching me browse it, I have seen him curl his lips back and smile like a person.
