General

Science fiction. Knitting. Metal and metalcore music. Straight edge. Plants. Comparative literature and art theory. Music festivals. Walking in the forest. Books, mostly sciencie fiction written by women.

Music

I listen to mostly playlists on Spotify, but just to make it short: metalcore (Annisokay, Eskimo Callboy, Enter shikari, etc.), alternative rock (Yungblud, Normandie, Nothing by thieves, etc.) and lots of post-rock (Toundra, God is an astronaut, This will destroy you, maybeshewill, etc.).

Movies

Basically any low-budget-science-fiction movie. Have you seen Primer? or Coherence? or The vast of night? Something like that.

Television

I keep thinking about Devs so, yes, Devs must have been the best show I've seen lately.

I read a lot, mostly science fiction written by women. // Last book read: Firebreak by Nicole Kornher-Stace // Currently reading: Marauder Crack by irati

Heroes

Bucky Barnes is my comfort character. ;

Anxo's Blurbs

About me:

I'm currently living in a remote village in the north of Spain, listening to metal, walking through the forest, knitting sweaters, sunken on yarn shawls, and collecting plants. Join our group about plants. //
.
I own a small ochard that I'm preparing to be able to plant a vegetables and herbs. It is a slow but steady process -and I'm sharing every step of the way. You can expect me to talk about it a lot, along with pictures.

.
I have a cat, she's deaf and she's the cutest cat in the world (not up for discussion). She likes sleeping in my lap, screamig at 2am for no reason and playing with bottle caps. She doesn't like any food but her tuna, feeling cold or being touched in the feet. Her name is Laia.

Who I'd like to meet:

Someone to talk to about music, nature, plants, knitting... I used to be a spanish teacher, so if you want a language interchange just DM me!

YEAH! I thought we had the music taste in common, but I didn't know about the science fiction! But it's so cool. Do you prefer books, movies or you don't care?

by Anxo; ; Report

Yeah Interstellar is my all time fav movie. Not so much of a metal soundtrack haha but Hans Zimmer did an epic job. Post-rock tunes go great with these type of films though, like 65daysofstatic. How about you?

by Ben // CatchyTwentyTwo ; ; Report

Insterstellar is amazing! I love movies with astronauts as characters, and Interstellar is one of my favorites too! I also love smaller stories, like Black Mirror or Her. I absolutely adored Devs! I think postrock will also fit in them, but I also think postrock fits everywhere

Maybe the surveys have some weird code attached from copying and pastying and that's why it does unexpected things. I'll try to remember to clean the code before the next one. Thanks for the warning!

how is repotting day going???????????????

I'm covered in dirt and everything's wet, it's sooo awesome :D

by Anxo; ; Report

what are you rehoming? I always forget this is the only time your supposed to be repotting. *looks at my bird of paradise that has been needed to be divided for two years* lol

by Dylan Jacob; ; Report

One of my succulents, a echeveria elegans. It was already too big for its pot and it had several little sprouts. I don't like the way they were growing, so I cut them and placed one of them in small pots. Last year I did the same and they grew nicely so I hope they do it too :)
Wow, a bird of paradise! Is it big? How to you know it needs to be divided?

by Anxo; ; Report

love succulents! tricky little ones lol. I always kill them from overwatering.

So with the bird of paradise usual they have a main trunk like structure that the new leaves come out of. Mine has three trunks, three new leaves every month. Its a 23 year old plant I rescued from FB market fo freee99. They love being overcrowded but I want it to grow and have children. I am always trying to propagate whole damn families of plants. lol seriously skim FB market for free plants, here in chicago some ppl move into apts and the previous renters had a tree or bird of paradise to big to move so they leave it lol. I try not to pay for plants, and I avoid sick ones because once you have mealy bugs life is stressful!

by Dylan Jacob; ; Report

If it's more than 20 years old it may be a giant! Propagating is the best! I just bought an alocasia and I think it's one of the few plants I've payed money for. Most of my succulents grew from leaves I stole; and just yesterday I saw an unsupervised pothos. I'm coming back this weekend for a cutting for sure xD
I look often on FB Marketplace, but I don't live in a very populated area and no one gives anything for free. So, if I find nice plants to save from movings, they are far away or people want to charge for them almost as much as a plant shop lol But I keep looking, just in case! :D

by Anxo; ; Report

there is a name for that, proplifting lol

I am the same way!!! I need potato vines and have been waiting for the city to put planters out. one snip and I will grow as many as I want. lol

by Dylan Jacob; ; Report

Hahaha I didn't know there was a word for that, I love it!
Sometimes I feel I can't control myself and that I just take cuttings from everything and everywhere, until I remember I saw, some weeks ago, a house with the door open and it had the most gorgeous plant inside. I don't know what it was, but it had big long leaves and there were a lot. I felt the urge to take a cutting, but I was able to stop and think "no, no, this is wrong, you shouldn't steal from people's homes, only take plants you see on the street". I didn't touch it and I am proud of that, but everytime I walk by I keep looking at the doors in case I get to see it again.
Potato vines...? Is that a literal potato or just a coincidence in the name? :O

by Anxo; ; Report

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGg I am the same way. Before the pandemic I took so many succulent leaves from this local gay bar. Woke up the next morning with smashed plants in my pockets from dancing drunk lol

Some plants can't be propagated :( But its fun trying, I love ficus trees they root so well in water.

so the name is potato vine, but they are green and grow like crazy. You see them in bar planters cascading down the side. I NEEEEEEEEEED IT.

Recently I mixed weed seeds and sweet corn, drove around tossing it anywhere I was overgrowth. lol It was the only seeds I had at the moment and the corn was super random. I am growing corn on my patio as a privacy fence, it kinda looks like bamboo

by Dylan Jacob; ; Report

I'm also looking for a hanging plant. I just learned how to make plant hangers and now I have the hangers but not the plants!
I think I saw somehere that sweet potatos start to get vines easily and quickly. I'm not sure regular potatos do, I know they root like crazy and I feel jelaous because lately my water propagations haven't worked that good. If you don't mind having a potato inside a glass of water in your living room, maybe they could make a nice plant lol

by Anxo; ; Report

sweet potatoes! that is going to give a beautiful lush vine.

I tried, the min mine rooted I planted it because I am impatient lol.

by Dylan Jacob; ; Report

Hahaha well, when you repot your bird of paradise take a few pictures and let us see it. It sounds beautiful and big :D

Hi! Nice to meet you too. I see you like science fiction too. So cool! Have you read any good books lately?

by Anxo; ; Report

I haven't had the chance to sit down and read lately, between working and wandering it's been somewhat chaotic, but I want to experiment with audiobooks while I drive moving forward. Are there any books that you'd recommend? Or Audiobook services of which you're fond?

by Nomad; ; Report

I'm not a fan of audiobooks, but I heard Audible is one of the best platforms. I would recommend without a doubt The Murderbot diaries by Martha Wells, if you haven't read it yet. It's about a robot who hacked itself to work less, who doesn't really like humans but can't help but make some friends along the way. It's funny, it has action, great characters, a mystery to solve, great jokes and it's a series of novellas, so if you like short fiction it's great, and it you like longer fiction you can just binge it

by Anxo; ; Report

That sounds like a great story, almost like a more chill version of AM from "I have no mouth and I must scream." Instead of killing people and having to endure its own unfathomable rage, it just doesn't want to work and even makes some friends along the way. Thank you for suggesting it. I've been meaning to read some Ray Bradbury, but I'm not sure where to start.
