I was born on October 31, 2007. Pretty spooky…I grew up in Illinois…not specifying where though.
My parents bought a computer in 2009ish and even though I was a tiny ass kid back then, I loved making noise with the keyboard. The clicking was satisfying to hear, and I was then introduced to the bright, magical screen a year later. I forgot what exactly I did that year, but I was mesmerized.
In 2015, I discovered the style of Y2K when I was just 8 years old, and I grew addicted. I told my mom I wanted “those” kinds of clothes and even insisted on my first phone being one of those retro flip phones, but I stuck with an iPhone years later anyways.
I always fucked with music since birth, especially Mexican music. Mariachi and Banda MS were some examples that my parents would put on on the radio and on their speakers. I discovered other genres eventually.
I started listening to rap at the age of 9, in like April 2017, after my cousin put me on to SoundCloud era artists. Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Peep, XXXTENTACION etc were among those. I know, it’s weird for a 9-10 year old to listen to that stuff, but it still felt great, and I was glad I was able to experience it during its prime, even if I was too young to understand anything in their songs. In 2018, I got to listen to Die Lit for the first time and it felt like I was being lifted to heaven, that’s how good it was. I was also introduced to Juice WRLD and Trippie Redd, who influenced my music taste even more.
During COVID in 2020 I began to listen to mostly alternative rock. as a joke, I pretended to act depressed during the pandemic cause my 13 year old self thought it was funny, and started to put myself onto emo music to further the joke, but I found myself growing attached to the genre, so, I guess I have COVID to thank for that (no im not depressed). started listening to Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, a tiny bit of My Chemical Romance, and especially Deftones. I would also listen to Slipknot and System Of A Down occasionally.
In late 2020, Playboi Carti dropped “Whole Lotta Red”. Like everyone else at the time, I found it to be trash, but it grew on me a day later. In 2021, when Ken Carson dropped “Project X”, I found myself listening to it ever since its release. I was starting to listen to more underground rap since, people like Yeat and KanKan were among those.
2022 came around. I was rocking full-on emo shit. I barely had the haircut but I always came in with band tees, some necklaces, and a few piercings I gave myself. Mfs thought I was weird, which I’m ngl I might’ve been back in middle school, but when high school came around, I saw myself befriending several people with the same interests I had. Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson dropped over the summer, and like Project X, I was listening to that nonstop.
