What are your thoughts on steam and video games being proprietary in general?

Well, there's the whole topic of morality of participating in video game industry, and I am still unsure of my position on that, but let's assume video games are OK. I believe that making non-free software itself (if you don't put malicious stuff inside and don't attempt to achieve monopoly) is very much ok, by doing so you just provide people with a choice/freedom/opportunity to use a tool or get some entertainment. On the other hand promoting non-free software that other people made is almost always wrong, because you can't be sure what that software is doing. Steam and Epic Games are guilty of at least that. I wonder what your views are? Or what you meant exactly, cuz now I feel like the question wasn't about the moral aspect lol

I was indeed asking about morality. Honestly I'm not quite as evangelical about FOSS software as some, but videogames are where I compromise the most.

Youtube for video sharing is a sin when you can just use bittorrent.

BitTorrent does better than video sharing sites for some purposes, and worse for some purposes. I do not mean to bash specific technologies, but to rant about monopolistic software combined with human ignorance
